Important: This page deals with transfer of Generic top-level domains (gTLD) such as .com, .net, .org to us, Solelyweb.

For Generic top-level domains (gTLD) such as .com, .net, .org, .education, .blog, .biz etc there are no special requirements for transfering, however may need some guidance. The transfer procedure for Generic top-level domains (gTLD) is decided by ICANN and all registrars need to adhere to certain regulations. For ICANN regulations on domain transfer see click here .

Domain transfer steps

Step 1: Prepare your domain for transfer and request the Auth-ID

• 1a: Check and make sure that the details such as email address on your domain in the WHOIS database are correct. Visit whois.icann.org to do so. This is because during the transfer process, an authorization email will be sent and the registrant will be required to click on the authorization link to begin the transfer process.
• 1b: Make sure that your domain has been registered for more than 60 days. This is because You cannot transfer a domain unless it has been at the current registrar for at least 60 days as stated by ICANN.
• 1c: Disable domain privacy, if you have this enabled on your domain.
• 1d: Request and obtain Authorization Code (EPP Key) from your current registrar.

Step 2: Place a "Transfer" domain order on our website 
Once you have done all these in place, click here to place a domain transfer order.

Step 3: Transfer Domain to us 
If you are on the "Transfer Domain" page. Enter your domain name (without www), enter your EPP Code/ Auth Code into the fields provided and enter "Captcha" code and then click "Add to Cart".

Step 4: Transfer Domain Configuration 
Add certain features to the domain i.e. ID Protection (WHOIS), Email Forwarding or add a Web Hosting account then click the "Continue" button to proceed to the Review and Checkout page.

Step 5: Review and Checkout 
From here you have the option to cancel registration process, edit domain or click the "Checkout" button to proceed to Checkout payment page.

Step 6: Checkout 
Enter personal information i.e. name and address, create a password and click on "Complete Order" button to proceed to payment page to pay. After you have completed your order, we will send you a confirmation via email.Note: Solelyweb currently uses PayPal checkout to take payments. PayPal allows you to pay directly with PayPal or with Credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard etc to make payments.

Step 7: Transfer Authorization 
After checkout, we also will initiate the transfer process. At this stage our registrar partner, eNom, will sends a Transfer Approval email to the domain’s Admin email address listed under Whois. The email contains the verification link that you will need to authorize the transfer in your account with us. 

Once the transfer is confirmed, your previous registrar should release the domain within up to 5-7 calendar days to approve the transfer.

Note: At step 7 - If you or they do not take any actions within this period, the transfer will be approved automatically and will be successful within days.

Need to know: If your website does not work straightaway that is because the DNS cache hasn't been updated. It can take up to two hours or ask your current registrar to change the name servers for your domain to ours. Then you can start with your website right away. Our name servers are: ns1.solelyweb.com and ns2.solelyweb.com
